A pave-set diamond band is one that is covered with small round-cut diamonds all along the surface to give the appearance of solid diamond face to the band. Pave-set diamonds are set in place using small beads or prongs to hold them in place. Hence very little of the metal band shows through and the diamonds all appear to be self-supporting yet the surface gives the allusion of being entirely crusted with diamonds only. Pave diamond bands can either have diamonds go around the whole band (eternity style) or stop halfway around (traditional pave bands). In general a traditional pave diamond band is preferred by most customers but the striking look of an eternity style pave diamond band is the definite choice for a select group of customers.
